Speed not arc-sized is affected via skills. If you have a Flatbow and use Read the Wind, the arc size will be the same, but the arrow will move faster.

LOL WUT?
Longbow and shortbow both have same arc size (medium). But, if what you say is true (shortbow faster than longbow for BHA) then must be a bug. Thx in Adv.
At any rate, I vote bug. Wasting 2 skills that supposedly compound increased arrow speed, only to find that the BHA skill (mana intensive/recovery intensive) goes no faster is L-LAME.
Nothing on either wiki (the GW supported [arena]net, nor the wikia one).

Not sure I buy this - but that may be how it's coded. However, the arc size for each bow is a DIRECT FUNCTION of how fast it fires. Perhaps the code doesn't modify the visual arc if it *in fact* speeds up the arrows (but I don't think it even speeds them up using same arc)...
I ran a few experiments, using recurve bow. The BHA arrow went no faster, whether I fired it with BOTH double speed enhancements, or none. The end result was the same (dodged) in every case, and a mega-slow arrow. Maybe as you say, using the bow with max arc in the first place (flatbow), you might see a difference there...
Again, sounds bugged. I should have seen a speed increase of 4x, but saw 1x. And the arc remained the same (perhaps code issue).

# Snaring, crippling, or knocking down your target before using this skill will make it difficult for your target to dodge.
# The high arc penalty of this skill can be decreased or eliminated depending on your range from the target.
# The speed of the arrow (as influenced by the skill) cannot be increased with skills such as Favorable Winds and Read the Wind (though the speed and arc addition from the bow type using it can be lessened though negligible in comparison).

Hmm - from wikia, not from the arena-net supported wiki.
And I've gotten numerous viral-pop-ups from that wikia one, so I prefer never to use it.
If this is the case, is should be made clear in the skill description - that BHA arrow CANNOT BE SPED UP - otherwise it is a BUG.

BROAD arrows aren't very aerodynamic... I doubt it's a bug.

i highly doubt its a bug. making it have a high arc makes it easier to dodge and makes it balanced since if it hits it auto dazes. personally i like concussion better anyway because it recharges faster and isnt elite(plus it does stack with the 2 skills)

I don't think it's a bug:
Quote:
Full: You shoot a broad head arrow that moves slower than normal. If it hits, target foe is Dazed for 5...17 seconds, and if target foe is casting a spell that spell is interrupted.
In this instance, "slow moving" means that the arc size of the bowshot is increased dramatically, making it much easier for the intended target to dodge.
|
So:
Quote:
Read the Wind does not stack with bow attacks which set projectile speed. This means that Read the Wind will not affect Called Shot, Needling Shot or Broad Head Arrow speed.
|
Since BHA has a peculiarly high arc by design (which is what makes the flight time much higher and the projectile speed consequently lower), it looks like no bug to me.

ffs it's not a bug. the speed set by an attack skill takes priority over the speed set by read the wind or favorable winds. intended mechanic, it's as simple as that.

If it's a bug, it's a good one, because BHA would be a pain in PvP if it would be as good as a normal bow attack :S.
It's not a bug though, it's balanced that way.

not really flatbow with [read the wind]makes your arc size very low like a recurve bow,u can see that because your arrow goes straight towards your target, insted of taking a big curve to get to your target, the bonus of flatbow over longbow in conjunction with read the wind is also the speed, flatbow has a faster atack rate, same as shortbow

The unsupported wiki one is basically the same as the supported on. However, the unsupported one gives more hints.
You might want to get your computer scanned for spyware. Because you should get no pop-ups from the unsupported one or the supported one.

This is really such a rediculous thing to say. That's all I've ever used to surf on this box. My virus software alerts me when these things occur, so I can stop them from proceeding. The same thing was just happening here on guru, about a week ago, from some fun6677.com advertiser (some sort of javascript exploit). I didn't actually get the pop-up, but rather the virus scanner alerting me to malicious code that has been interrupted/terminated.
As to this thread here, it sounds like the consensus is lie rather than bug. I can understand that PvX balancing might have required this effect, but it is not clear in any of the skill descriptions or the supported wiki. As to arc size/arrow speed, they are directly linked as can be seen by experiments using flatbow (something I had confirmed, but also mentioned by others in this thread). Since various skills that affect speed compound in an additive manner, it was not clear to me why this did not occur with BHA.
Question resolved, case closed.
